I had three rules for this project:
1. Using Photoshop, create a motivational poster sized 16 x 20.
2. Use an image that you created tied to an important piece of text.
and most importantly
3. Make it matter.
Every year, I do this project. And, every year, I am blown away by the creativity, wisdom, and grace of our future leaders.
Teenage years were hard 25+ (AGH!) years ago when I was in high school. Now- teens face a relentless barrage of challenges that hadn't even been dreamed of when I was 17. The pressures to be the smartest, the strongest, the prettiest, the wittiest, the best are chatted, tweeted, texted, blogged, and posted from every direction with virtually instantaneous effects.
And that - is what makes me so proud to see this work come from today's teenagers. Their insight and heartfelt vision strengthens my faith that they are prepared to face and overcome the challenges throughout high school and the years to follow.
